Behind the Brand
Tensira Designs was founded in 2010 by Hamidou Diallo from Guinea and Tuulia Makinen from Finland. The brand was created to bring the beauty of Finnish design alive using traditional Guinean weaving and indigo techniques. He was inspired by his mother, who was an indigo dye artist. For Diallo, it is important that African crafts are kept alive, amd that techniques are passed from generation to generation for centuries.
Ethically Made
Tensira fabrics are 100% cotton, and are spun, woven and dyed by hand in their workshops in the Republic of Guinea. All fabrics are 100% cotton made with traditional looms. Each piece of fabric is made up of more than 3000 hand-dyed and spooled threads. Not only are they producing products ecologically, but they are also providing work for local artisan communities.
