Pentel
Iconic stationery brand Pentel has been creating the world's favourite pens for over seventy years. From the mechanical pencil to the rollerball, their forward-thinking philosophy appeals to artists and writers alike.
Behind the Brand
Japanese company Pentel was founded in Tokyo by Yokio Horie in 1946 with the aim of manufacturing pastels and crayons. In 1963, they launched the Sign Pen, which became the official pen for NASA and sold 2 Billion units. Pentel is now a global brand that claims to be responsible for developing ideas behind two-thirds of the world's writing implements.
Innovation
Pentel is constantly pushing the envelope on design and technology and is responsible for creating some of the world's most iconic pens. From the mechanical pencil to the famous green R50 Ball Pentel Rollerball pen, their writing implements are trusted favourites from the classroom to the boardroom. Their brush ink pens are also popular with artists, and they are constantly developing new products to enhance creativity.
People and Planet
Pentel endeavours to limit the impact their business has on the environment. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that their wastewater is as clean as possible, and their water is now so clean that fireflies and sweetfish have made it their home. They have a robust environmental strategy and are working hard to reduce their CO2 emissions. Pentel also takes the welfare of their staff seriously and promotes a healthy work-life balance.
