Nippon Kodo
Established in 1575, Japanese incense makers Nippon Kodo draw on 400 years of tradition to create exquisite aromas. Handcrafted with pride and respect by artisans and perfumers to create beautifully packaged incense.
Behind the Brand
The high-quality fragrances that Nippon Kodo create can be traced back to Juemon Takai, who made precious aromas for the Emperor of Japan and his court. Originally brought to Japan by Buddhist monks in the 8th century for religious ceremonies, it later became popular with the aristocracy as a mark of sophistication and to mask unpleasant smells. Nippon Kodo now produces quality incense for consumers worldwide to enhance wellbeing and promote Japanese culture.
Acute Senses and Gentle Hands
Nippon Kodo's craftsmen study long and hard to master their art. Everything is selected, kneaded and cut by hand, paying particular attention to changing weather conditions and natural materials. Although they use traditional techniques and recipes, they use the best Danish technology to ensure the safety of their products.
Mindful with Materials
Nippon Kodo carefully sources its ingredients from long cultivated networks. They also engage in forestation and conservation projects in Southeast Asia to protect the environments from which they come. Materials are used with care to limit waste and in a way that respects the environment.
