Heist
Known as the smallest chocolate factory in Wales, Heist produces single-origin, organic chocolate bars with innovative textures and flavours.
The Man Behind the Chocolate
Heist was accidentally created in Cardiff by Mikey Lewis, who only intended to make a few bars to prove he could do it. He now supplies chocolate to shops as far afield as Belgium. Heist is a one-man show. Mikey designs the products, roasts the beans, tempers the chocolate and sews the jiffy bag shut before posting them to customers. The only thing he delegates is the kooky artwork that local illustrators create.
A Transparent Process
Because Mikey does everything himself, he knows the exact origin of all of his ingredients. All of his cocoa beans come from Antsamala Farm in Madagascar. The farm has superior working conditions where staff are paid good wages and given health insurance and space to grow their own food.
It's all in the Taste
The cacao Mikey uses is regarded as one of the best in Madagascar. It has a soft profile with low acidity and a spicy, woody, and nutty flavour with subtle floral hints. Combined with ingredients such as naturally dried Welsh sea salt, organic orange oil or ground vanilla beans, it truly is a taste sensation.
