Begg x Co
Since 1866, Begg x Co has been blending traditional methods and values with cutting edge technology to produce the finest woollen scarves, wraps and knitwear.
A Rich Heritage
Begg x Co was established in Paisley, Scotland, a town world-famous for its Paisley pattern. In 1866 Alec Begg employed a group of local weavers to produce woollen shawls inspired by the stunning natural landscape using the best yarns available. This cottage industry was such a success that, in 1902, the company relocated to Ayr on the West Coast of Scotland, where they had the space to expand and invest in innovative weaving techniques.
A Passion for Quality
The staff at Begg x Co are still passionate about quality, and artisans are trained in house to meet the company's exacting standards. Computerised equipment is used alongside traditional mill machinery to combine modern technology and their traditional knowledge. Cloth is still hand-pummelled and gently brushed with cultivated Italian teasel plant heads, and pressed using the age-old method of brown paper infused with strands of copper, which gives scarves and stoles that signature glossy sheen.
Carefully Chosen Suppliers
Begg x Co are committed to sourcing ethical and sustainable yarns and are a member of the Sustainable Fibre Alliance. No harmful chemicals are used in the production of woollen materials, and their sustainability team visit farms regularly to ensure high standards of animal welfare.
